FREEK 
New in from Fizik is the Freek saddle. Marketed as a Freeride saddle its design is geared towards controlling the bike in the air with a drop nose with underside grip and low sides. This gives a new and interesting ‘look’ and to be honest for most of us, this is more important than having that improved grab hold for our superman seat grabs…
What is unique and different about this saddle is the material it is made of. The top is made of rubber with plastic sides. This makes the saddle durable and will hopefully end that scrappy ripped corners that are common and make the saddle last the tumbles. It is also quite grippy when you sit on it which is different to what you’d expect and gave good control as you shift your weight about.
FreekIt is available in white only this year, and this certainly looks quality and ‘pimp’ matched with white Boxxer forks. Whether it will stay as white only time will tell, but the rubber should be easily cleaned. Another interesting feature is that due to the rubber top, it can be ‘branded’ with a hot iron. Fizik are setting up about 12 sites around the globe at free-ride parks like Whistler/Les Gets etc where you can get your saddle 'branded'. There will be a location at each park to get your saddle imprinted with the parks name. A new idea and sounds good.
When out riding on it, I can’t say that it was a very comfortable saddle- the shape didn’t seem to fit my bony bum, but this isn’t marketed as an xc saddle so if you want something for the long loops I’d look at other fizik saddles, but this one is certainly a different and eye catching seat for the downhill sled
