"In Israel -The land of miracles- you can ride everyday, from the cool northern forests of the Galilee, to the blazing Red Sea desert of Eilat in the south.
This country has great riding opportunities, I had one of my “top ten” rides in Solomon canyon near Eilat" – says Joey Klien, international expert for planning, building and maintaining bike trails, who participated in one of Israel biking event last month.
Israel joins the world wide momentum of biking.
Non formal estimations count about 100,000 bikers in Israel, who trails both on street and tracks.
Only about 1,700 of them participate regularly on formal competitive events, the rest ride for fun, exploring the yet not touched off the road trails and nature of the holy land.
Very early in the morning a city folk can crowd with tens of people who pedal the bicycles' trail at the main Tel Aviv Park at the "Bird Head" grove; spiritual cyclist can breathe deep at the Jerusalem Mountains, stopping to pry or admire at one of the ancient monasteries.
The really wonderful climate of Israel enables cyclists to travel all round the year in a matter of short travel – either by paddles or public transportation.
The cycling activities in Israel are being monitored by 3 main bodies: Israel Cycling Federation, Jewish National Fund (KKL) and the Israel Nature and Park Authority.
"The fact the cyclists can ride in such a wonderful weather all year round and enjoy a really interesting trail, full with history, heritage, religious and archeological sites, in one of the main bird-watching countries, with evolving biking centers, with cycling events to choose from almost every month, with possibility to cross the country with the Israel Trail, or finish the day in a winery or an olive pressing site make Israel one of the most fascinating places on the globe for cyclists" – says Terry Riedman from International Travel and Congresses Travel Agency, who supply services for the two-wheels tourist to Israel.
